Drain Cleaning
Drain cleaning and clearing blockages is a major part of what Morrison Plumbing does on a day to day basis. Drain Cleaning isn't always as straightforward as it may seem. It takes many years of experience to understand the many different scenarios that drain cleaning can present.
Morrison Plumbing has that experience and knowledge get your drains back in working order.
Morrison Plumbing's Drain Cleaning Machines consist of a coiled metal cable with a blade at the end. The other end is attached to a heavy duty motor that cranks and rotates the cable down the pipe to clear the obstruction.
Drains can be cleared in several different ways. Different types of blockages and different types of pipes will require there their own unique approach to issue.
For Example:
- Bathroom Blockage. In smaller lines like bathtub drains and bathroom sink drains, the auger end of the cable digs itself into the clog much like a corkscrew, allowing retrieval of the object causing the clog when the snake is pulled out. (Commonly hair, combs, small toys, cloth.)
- Main Line Blockage. We use blades on the end of the snake to break up the objects, allowing it to pass through the drain or to pull the objects out. (Commonly tree roots)
- Kitchen Sink Blockage: The snake scrapes the inside of the pipe, removing accumulated material, ranging from mineral deposits and soaps to food and grease.
- Toilet Blockages : The Closet Auger. (named after water closets) We feed a relatively short auger through a piece of metal tubing shaped like a "J". This allows the cable to easily be fed into toilet trap. A plastic boot on the end of the auger protects the finish of the visible porcelain. Since most toilet clogs occur in the trap built into the bowl, the short cable is sufficient to break up or retrieve the vast majority of clogs.
